Myrto Leivadarou is a Doctor of Civil Law (DCL) candidate at McGill University's Faculty of Law. Drawing in part on her lived experience of wildfire loss, her research examines disaster litigation in the climate crisis, with a focus on climate-intensified wildfires and floods. At McGill, she is the Co-Director of the Transnational Justice Clinic and a Research Assistant to Professor Sébastien Jodoin, Canada Research Chair in Human Rights, Health and the Environment.
Myrto is the President of the Graduate Law Students Association (GLSA). She previously served as Vice-President Academic (2024-2025), chaired the 2025 Annual McGill Graduate Law Conference (Anatomy of a Crisis), and served on the organizing committee for the 2024 conference (Law and the Behold: Reveries of the Connected World).
She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M, thesis track, 2023-24) from McGill University, a Master of Laws (LL.M, thesis track, 2021-23) from Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München (LMU), and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B, 2015-2020) from Democritus University of Thrace. She is a licensed lawyer registered with the Athens Bar Association, and has worked with KPMG Law (Munich), Calavros Law Firm (Athens), and the Scientific Service of the Hellenic Parliament (Athens). Since 2019, she has coached the Democritus University of Thrace team for the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, supporting law students in written and oral advocacy in European human rights law.
Her work has been supported by competitive scholarships and fellowships, including the the A.G. Leventis Foundation Educational Grant (2025; 2024), the Adams-Burke Global Justice Fellowship (2025), the McGill Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel Award (2025), the Esterina and Gaetano Liberatore Fellowship (2025; 2024), the McGill Student Engagement Fund, (2024), the McGill Graduate Excellence Award in Law (2024), the McGill Wainwright Graduate Award (2024), the Athens Bar Association Academic Scholarship (2024), and the Hellenic Scholarships Foundation Excellence Scholarship (2024).
Parallel to her legal and academic work, classical ballet remains an enduring artistic practice. She holds certifications from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), and taught ballet as well as music and movement to children and teenagers at Horotaxio (Komotini, 2017-2018). She is currently taking classes at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens Studios (Montréal), and her long-standing engagement with dance continues to shape her attention to discipline, craft, and embodiment alongside legal pedagogy and research.
